The Customers' Voice

What started as a passion for people and problem solving, soon developed into a full blown habit requiring constant feeding. Thankfully Glennys was able to support this habit by training as a psychologist, and finding clients interested in exploring why we do the things we do. She now spreads her time between two areas – Consumer Psychology and Writing – as outlined below, along with Awards and Board positions.

Consumer Psychology (The Customers’ Voice)

In the beginning Glennys could satisfy her habit by helping blue chip clients develop new products, marketing strategies and advertising campaigns. Over the years, however the habit became more discerning and she found herself drawn to complex social issues. No topic was taboo as she soon found herself investigating issues such as: Domestic Violence; Sexual Assault; Drug/Alcohol Abuse; Stem Cell Research; Juvenile Justice; and higher education amongst indigenous and multicultural communities to name a few. For Glennys it was a dream come true to be interacting with multi-drug users, domestic violence survivors and perpetrators, indigenous communities, police commissioners, gamblers, elite SAS members, CEOs, celebrities, and the most challenging of all ...teenagers.

Working in consumer psychology Glennys spent over 20 years researching consumer behaviour before establishing her own consultancy, The Customers’ Voice in 2000. See the ‘Research’ tab for more information about The Customers’ Voice.

Writing and Guest Speaking

Her writing and guest speaking career also began over 20 years ago at the Australian Red Cross (WA) where she managed the Adult and Youth magazines, undertook guest speaking tours, and was a member of the Disaster Preparedness Team, the first on the scene in times of disaster.

She picked up a pen again in 2005 when life events saw her write 50 Ways To Grieve Your Lover, a book which continues to sell both locally and internationally and led to Glennys being profiled in a book by Seth Godin (see Awards).

This recognition, along with winning a local writing award, motivated her to write a follow up book Me Time: 100 strategies for guilt free me time. This book has also proved popular wining a People’s Choice Award.

She took on the voluntary role of Professional Development Officer (WA) Australian Society of Authors, and became a member of the Federation of Writers (FAWWA). She is a regular contributor to magazines and websites and, has a monthly column at Swan Magazine and was amongst the top 40 Perth bloggers to be invited to blog at TweetPerth.com. Her pieces on TweetPerth drew the attention of Visit Perth City (the City of Perth website) which she has also contributed to. Her writing can also be found at her blog The Ponder Room which commenced in 2011 and was read in over 20 countries within six months. It is now read in over 60 countries.

In an example of life coming full circle, 50 Ways To Grieve Your Lover was purchased by the Australian Red Cross to help survivors of the Victorian Bush Fires. The Red Cross remains close to her heart having given her many opportunities, taught her the value of life, and the reward of serving others.

Awards and Recognition
In 2005 she worked with the Australian Cartoonists Association (WA) to establish the Michael Collins Caricature Award, in honour of her partner who passed away. A national award raised funds for the Heart Foundation, it ran for four years and was held in high esteem amongst the Australian art community.
2008 Stirling Literary Award: Adult Section;
